Overview


The presentation will give you a look and feel of the structure and granularity of ICD-10. This will include examples of the codes themselves and how they will differ from ICD-9. This presentation is designed to help coders, managers and CDI staff prepare now for what is to come October 13, 2013.

Kim Felix, RHIA, CCS is Director of Education at IOD and is an AHIMA Certified ICD-10 trainer. Kim’s 20 years of experience includes Lead Coder at The University of Pennsylvania Health System and managing coding operations for Universal Health Services (UHS). Her education experience includes adjunct faculty at Gwynedd-Mercy College and Study Mentor for Health Informatics Program at Western Governors University. She also wrote the lesson plans for Elsevier’s ICD-9-CM coding theory and practice textbook and wrote questions for a web-based CCA (Certified Coding Associate) Exam Review for Northstar Learning. She developed a CCS Preparatory Workshop that has been touring throughout the state of Pennsylvania. She has served as SePHIMA’s education committee chairperson and continues to be a PHIMA Coding Roundtable member.
